CONTACT: Christmas 1978
A confident start to the season with the Bank team firmly placed at the top of Division 2 (pm) of the
South Birmingham League.
As the Bank were only promoted last season from Division 3, we can only be delighted that we have taken
the higher division by storm - who knows, maybe it will be promotion again this year?
Unfortunately, due to promotion, we have
been unable to defend our title of "Presidents Cup Winners" as this cup is only competed for by teams from Division 3 and Division
4.
Our playing record so far (up to and including 3-12-1978) is as follows:

Our
new recruit to the team, Paul McInerney, has proved to be a great success, whilst Malcolm Glenn and John Donlan have taken over the
joint role of top scorers for the team.
Last years' top scorers, John Mace and Brian Wilkins, have both been lost to the team
along with goalkeeper Mike Reed. Trying to replace players of their standard has been very difficult and we are still on the lookout
for new players to strengthen our squad.
If anyone is interested in playing for the Bank, please contact me at Kitts Green Branch.
Gary
Ketteridge,
Hon. Secretary.

This season has been one of the worst season for postponed matches
in the history of the South Birmingham Football League, resulting in the bank team playing night matches to try and catch up on the
backlog of fixtures.
The bank are at present (April 14th) in 2nd position in the league with games in hand over the leaders.
However, recently the bank have failed to capture the same form that took them to the top of the league. Games have been lost that
previously would have been won convincingly by the team.

It was unfortunate that in the national regional T.S.B. competition the bank had to be scratched from the competition
. It was not possible to allow players time off from their normall banking duties on any of the days set by the competition officials.
On
a brighter note, the bank will be represented by a team in the national 5-A-Side competition which is to be held on a Saturday in
May (exact date not fixed).
As always the bank is looking for new players and anyone who is interested or in fact knows of anyone
on the staff who may be interested, please contact me at Kitts Green branch.
Gary Ketteridge,
Hon. Secretary.
