This season we have seen a re-shuffled football team, under the new management of Ivor Crigman.

You will have noticed from the Newsletters, that many familiar players are back in the side after an absence of a few seasons. Notably Mickey Reed, Terry Hinz, John Mace, David Burke and Brian Wilkins have all added experience to the side.

At present, we are in fifth position in Division Three of the South Birmingham Sunday League, and as top scorers with forty seven goals, we hope to improve our position.

Our efforts in the President's Cup have been well rewarded, we are in the Quarter Finals and have an excellent chance of going further in the competition.

Unfortunately, as regards the National TSB competition, we were beaten in the First Round by the cup holders, North West Central TSB.

At present we are half way through the season and the individual goal scoring achievements are as follows:

John Mace

19

Brian Wilkins

16

Malcolm Glenn

5

Dennis Kennedy

4

Paul Bumford

2

David Burke

2

John Donlan

Terry Hinz

Jon Rnjak

Stephen Griffin

As you can see, the battle for top scorer is hotly contested between twin strikers, John Mace and Brian Wilkins.

The mood and determination of the players can only be geared, hopefully, towards success in forthcoming events.

This season has proved to be one of the best we have had in recent years. Our league position is third and we have fought through to the Final of the Presidents' Cup against Pitts Farm Rangers.

Team Manager Ivor Crigman, in his first season with the Bank team, has blended a team full of confidence and skill. Noteably the return of experienced players to the side such as John Mace, David Burke, Terry Hinz, Mike Reed and Brian Wilkins has added strength. John Donlan, in his first season, has proved to be a major discovery - playing on the right wing of the attack. In his first match he played a defensive role and then progressed into midfield, he now plays in the attack creating chances for our top scorer, John Mace, occasionally scoring for himself.

As you can see, John Mace and Brian Wilkins are way ahead of the rest with 50 goals out of the 82 scored between them. John set himself a target of 30 goals this season and with only two goals left to grab he has a good chance of achieving it.

The most pleasing feature about our play this season has been the determination shown by the team, together with the way that players are encouraged to use their skill to obtain results with attractive football.
