CONTACT: Summer 1974
In the South Birmingham Sunday League Division Two, the Club began the season with nine successive defeats
and first round defeats in both Cup competitions. Loss of players from the previous season resulted in an unsettled side, one reason
for the poor start. On occasions there were only enough players to field a team, and even a spectator was called upon to make up the
full eleven.
In the last seven league games the Club was unbeaten, and gained fine results against the top teams in the Division. Despite this late rally .by the Club, the team finished second from the bottom of the Division.

In the TSB Cup Competition the matches were played
on a regional basis to reduce travelling. On the playing side, the Bank did not have an easy passage to the final. Close games against
Leicester, Kidderminster, and West Midlands forced the Bank to qualify for the semi-finals on goal average. After a disappointing
2-2 home draw in the first leg, the team produced a magnificent away performance to win through to the final. The team failed to find
its best form in the final against Liverpool TSB and despite an early lead by a John Mace goal, lost 2-1.
The player of the year
award, presented at the Miss BMB Dance, went to John Mace. John's award is well deserved after another fine season with the Club.
A special mention is warranted for Derek Horner who made the difficult switch from centre-forward to goalkeeper. Derek produced some
fine performances, but none better than his tremendous saves against the West Midlands TSB.
Newcomers to the team last season
were Ray Lewis, Malcolm Davies, Eddie Stokes, and Andrew Dugdale. On behalf of the Club I would like to thank all who turned out for
the second eleven side during the season.
New players are wanted for next season. Anyone who is interested should contact my
successor as secretary, Ken Prentice at Pype Hayes Branch.
Finally, to all the members of the Staff who have generously supported
the Club· over the last season, at matches and with the pontoon ...... THANK YOU.
