CONTACT: Autumn 1970
The 1970-71 season is under way and for the BMB it means a new league, new opposition and of course new
players. By the time Contact is published we shall have played several games and here's hoping that the results have been encouraging.
The
appointment of Mr R Lovell as Team Manager is certainly a good move for the Club. "The Boss" has put us through vigorous training
sessions and we are certainly fit - and full of aches and pains!

The Club's AGM was well attended and was certainly
the longest on record. Many views were expressed and we hope the Club will improve on the comments made.
It is hoped that this
season the BMBFC will travel to other parts of the country to meet other TSB Clubs. It would be interesting if the TSB could set up
a football league or a knock-out competition as the Cricket Club have.

CONTACT: Christmas 1970
It is with much pleasure that I report on a very happy soccer team. The team
consists of all bank players and has a very ambitious Team Manager. We figure well in the League and Shield competitions.
The
arrival of Ray Lovell as Team Player-Manager has had immediate effect. The lads have had to give of their very best and, judging by
results, the manager is certainly obtaining 100% effort.

Once again the Bank Football Club entered the Nalgo and District Soccer Six-a-Side
Competition. It seemed at one stage that we were going to progress through the preliminary round, then against the bottom team we
crashed to defeat and a disappointing exit.
Approaches have been received from football clubs of Trustee Savings Bank to play
the BMB. Fixtures, however, were for Sundays and at the moment the Bank is unable to oblige. It is hoped, however, to play some fixtures
on a Saturday.
No doubt you have heard on the famed grapevine that due to some misinterpretation, Salvage Department collectors
collected from the shed of my flat, two kits of football shirts, shorts, etc. Fortunately, an insurance claim was paid and a very
relieved Derek Horner lived to tell the tale. Apart from football kit taken from my home, I also lost a lawn mower, garden spade,
garden fork etc. The collectors apparently thought they were rubbish. Shortly after this we had a football stolen at one of the games.

CONTACT: Summer 1971
I would like, first of all, to introduce myself as the
new Secretary of the Bank Football Club. I hope to continue the good work carried out by my predecessor, D R Horner, who, without
doubt, has done a very professional job during the past three years, bringing to the Club many new ideas and his high standard will
be hard to equal.
The Club's thanks are also due M P Bourke, who has been a Trustee of the Football Pontoon since its foundation.
Michael's dedication and loyalty cannot be rivalled and I would like to wish him well at his new post as Treasurer of the Staff Association.
I
am sure that this coming season the Club will thrive on success in matches played against other Trustee Savings Banks and also in
matches played in the South Birmingham Sunday League, under the guidance of our team manager, Ray Lovell.
